Paula Gay Carver, age 62, of Rock Cave, passed away peacefully following an extended illness on Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born January 16, 1964, at Fort Benning, Georgia a daughter of the late Lester Vernon Kump and Betty Lou Sager Sayres. She was united in marriage on November 9, 1984, to Earl Edward “Eddie” Carver who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Skye Linger and husband William “Bill” Linger III of Buckhannon, one son, Wesley Carver and Abigail Griffin of Bridgeport; four grandchildren: William “Liam” Linger IV, Jackson Linger, Madeline Carver, and Jensen Carver; one brother, Jeffery Lynn Kump of Cross Junction, VA; two sisters: Pamela Hanes and husband Lonnie of Gerrardstown, WV and Wendy Rohr and fiancé, Ted Black of Buckhannon; stepmother, LaRue Kump of Winchester, VA.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sherry Richardson and her stepfather, Ernest “Ernie” Sayres.
Paula was a former member of Station 4 Banks District VFD at Rock Cave and a former member of the Wilsontown United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1-3:00 PM, the funeral hour, with Pastor Terry Gower officiating. Following the services, the family has honored her wishes for cremation.
