Monna Darlene Young, age 80, of the Alexander Road, French Creek, died Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born on July 10, 1946, in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Helen F. Arnold Long and stepfather Richard Long. On February 28, 1989, she was united in marriage to John B. Young who survives. Also surviving are one stepdaughter Sherry and husband Jonathan of French Creek; “kids by choice” David and wife Kavy Kelley of Buckhannon; one brother Ronald Richard Long of Cumberland; three sisters: Shelley Irene Long of Tampa, FL, Clara Jean Long-DeVore of Arizona, and Melinda Sue Long of Cumberland; special friends Rick and Christy Fox of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one stepson Johnny Young.
Monna was retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital as a housekeeper and was an “auction fanatic.” She attended the Bethlehem Community Church.
The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 9-11:00 AM, at which time a funeral service will begin with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
